I like to speak them, write them, listen to them, and read them. I have a college degree in words – they call it Communications, which also happens to be the name of my top strength in Clifton Strength Finders. My love language is Words of Affirmation. I have always loved the smell and feel of a fresh pad of paper and fresh blue ink –I loved writing even before I could read.
There are two things that I have always wanted to do – be a mom and be a writer. My season of motherhood is changing — from the Loud & Sticky to the Clean & Quiet. (It really is easier to cook and clean for three than for six – who knew?).
I miss the busy-ness of a full house. I miss being in the center of the action. This is not the season I would choose. I don’t really want to move on, but it’s not an option. Life is moving on whether or not I’m ready. However, it turns out that these Quiet Days are opening up time for writing – writing in my journal, writing Bible studies, and writing a novel.
I’m immersed in words. Instead of lots of spoken words swirling all around me all day, every day. I’m immersed in reading books and writing words. Different season. Different jam. And it’s not all bad.
